A Quick Update

Launch and Post-Launch News

Hi everyone — those particularly observant amongst you might have noticed that I didn’t send out a newsletter last month. I fully intended to and to have it coincide with the launch of ASCENSION, but, well, life got away from me. As well as all the build up to the launch, I also moved house, changed jobs, and did a variety of other things that sucked up pretty much all of my time.

I’m still ludicrously busy with it all, but here’s some key updates from the launch month you might have missed:

The Launch

ASCENSION came out in both the UK and the US at the end of April and I’ve just been so chuffed at the reception. People have been really supportive of it and have said some wonderful things.

About a week before launch, the Broken Binding 1000-copy special edition sold out, which was a wonderful thing to discover going into the week.

There was a fantastic event at Blackwell’s in Edinburgh that was also sold out, and a bunch of us went to the pub afterwards to celebrate. It was a wonderful evening all round and thanks so much to everyone who attended.

Publicity

During launch week, there was some wonderful publicity to, including:

And more, as well as a shout out to some of the fantastic indie reviewers out there, in particular Nick Borrelli at Out Of This World SFF, who had wonderful things to say about the book.

Podcasts

You’ll also have found me on various podcasts or youtube interviews in the past month, including:

Events

This month, I’ve got a few events lined up. There’s the MCM Comic-Con in London this weekend, and of course Cymera Festival in Edinburgh next weekend. I’ll be talking on a panel and signing books at both.

There’s more festivals and visits down the line in the coming months, so keep an eye on the newsletter and/or my website for details.

Expect a more detailed update next month on what I’ve been reading and writing, as well as what I’m working on. For now, thanks for everyone that has bought and supported ASCENSION and feel free to get in touch!
